Demolition


In the Court of Appeal case of R (SAVE Britain's Heritage) v Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (2011) EWCA Civ 334, the judicial review by SAVE Britain's Heritage against a proposed demolition of a former brewery site in Lancaster was allowed.

Change of Use from Commercial to Residential

 

The Government is consulting on proposed amendments to the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 to grant permitted development rights for changes of use from commercial (B use class) to residential (C3 use class) without the need to apply for planning permission.

New PPS10 – Planning for Sustainable Waste Management

On 30 March 2011, the Government published Planning Policy Statement 10 – Planning for Sustainable Waste Management, which replaces Planning Policy Guidance Note 10, Planning and Waste Management published in 1999 and PPS10 published in 2005.

Support for Neighbourhood Planning

 

Planning Minister, Greg Clark, has announced that a fund of £3.2 million will be given to four planning organisations to assist local groups with developing neighbourhood plans.
