April's Click-thru

7th April 2010

Hi there,

Well it's been yet another magical month in digital advertising, particularly with the release of the IAB/PwC online adspend figures. We were over the moon to announce that, once again, the medium saw growth even in exceptionally tough times, increasing 4.2% in 2009 to reach £3.5 billion. There were cheers aplenty and even a Mexican wave or two at IAB headquarters when we revealed the figures, and members can see the full report in all its glory here.

With the election getting closer and our minds getting more muddled about where our loyalties should lie, it was only a matter of time before the main political parties began to embrace the internet in an attempt change the hearts and minds of British voters. With the recent bout of print mock-ups and hilarious videos on YouTube to boot, it's certainly making the World Wide Web a more interesting, albeit aggressive place. But can anyone match up to the now legendary Obama-style digital success? Below, we've pulled together a few stories that are sure to whet your appetite for the weeks to come, and in next month's issue we'll provide you with a selection of the election season's best bits.

As always, we've aggregated all the hottest online and mobile news for you in one handy place, as well as a couple of IAB updates. Happy learning.

Thanks,
Web Team
