Click-thru

10 February 2009

Hi folks,

Despite the snow and the rain, it's been another busy few weeks for the world of new media. Top of the agenda of course was Lord Carter's interim Digital Britain report which came complete with Gordon Brown's commitment to ensure that Britain "competes in the digital economy". This was followed less than a week later, by the Competition Commission's decision to block the joint Project Kangaroo online video on demand initiative proposed by the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. Who ever said online wasn't a complex beast?

On a lighter note, we've seen some major players celebrating birthdays in the last few weeks. Sky turned 20 and bright young thing Facebook surprised us all by announcing it was five years old.

Elsewhere, 30,000 people were duped into believing they could get a tan simply by turning on their computer - well done McCann Erickson. Over at Buckingham Palace, the Queen's been planning something of an online relaunch, so who better to hire than the inventor of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners Lee?

One trend we've been finding it increasingly hard to ignore is Twitter - yes Mr Fry we're watching. So, as everyone is goingTwitter crazy, we thought we'd dive in too. Why not follow us here.

Happy reading,

Web Team
